The 7-year anniversary of the car accident was 9/28. It’s the 7th anniversary of the tragic car accident that led to the death of his best friend and manager 8-Ball, which inspired his street classic “My Dawg.” Today, T-Rell is reclaiming his joy and honoring not only 8-Ball, but also his late close friend and collaborator Mo3 with 2 Big 2 Ignore. Though T-Rell does tap into his infamous melodic “pain music” on songs like “On The Gang” and “LL3,” his Mo3 tribute, he aims to expand his sound and elevate his stardom as he taps into new sounds on tracks like the sensual, Afrobeats-inspired “Whole Thang” and club banger contender “Slide” ft. Louisiana’s own Fredo Bang. With features from Jackboy, Young Dro, Bigga Rankin, and more, the proud Topeka, KS native makes it known that he’s a musical force to be reckoned with and his talent is “too big to ignore.”
Along with the album, T-Rell just dropped a video for one of my fave songs on the project “Fly Away” ft. Jackboy. The video sees both artists connecting to trade melodic bars among the visuals of the San Francisco skyline and captures the essence of the city’s dwellers lip syncing the heartfelt hook. While T-Rell self-reflects through deep, melodic bars about overcoming life’s obstacles and staying humble, Jackboy perfectly complements T-Rell’s vocals with his compelling guest verse.
