Today, legendary rapper Curren$y returns with a new project Spring Clean 2, produced by 808 Mafia producer Fuse. Known for his refined taste and laidback flows, the new project finds Curren$y rapping over a diverse backdrop of beats as his lyrics weave in and out of pianos, drums and crafty samples. On “Trust Issues” ft. Fendi P, the rappers cut through an interpolation of “Ready or Not” by The Fugees while on “This Way Forever” Curren$y and Pi’erre Bourne take a sonically sultry approach to the track. Fuse and the 808 Mafia collective have become notoriously known for their trap beats with Fuse producing for the likes of Future, Chief Keef, Moneybagg Yo and more. While the Curren$y and Fuse are no strangers to collaboration, with the release of the first installment of Spring Clean in 2020, this project shows the versatility of the two despite their signature sounds.
Curren$y has become known for having a stacked discography with a collection of over 80 mixtapes, albums, and EPs. However, this year, Curren$y has taken a more calculated approach to his releases with the first one being the critically acclaimed joint album with super producer The Alchemist — Continuance. The album featuredcollaborations from rappers across the spectrum of the genre such as Wiz Khalifa, Havoc, Styles P, Larry June, Boldy James, and Babyface Ray. With Complex calling it one of the “Best Albums of 2022” , Curren$y and The Alchemist undoubtedly made a splash. Since the year has started Curren$y has embarked on a string of headlining sold out shows, graced festival stages, and even made his NPR “Tiny Desk” debut. Full steam ahead, Curren$y continues to cement his legacy as an underground legend.
