The leaves are turning orange, the weather is getting colder, and the sharp wordplay and clever persona of Cowboy Jones is back in full swing this fall. After exclusively premiering his music video, “Bigger Than Me” on Artistic Manifesto, being featured in Free Press Houston and unloading a slew of singles over time, Dylan Cohl drops his well-anticipated project, “Cowboy Jones 1.5: Days In The East”. The second installment to the Cowboy Jones series shows Cohl’s growth as an artist and producer, the broad range of subject matter which lands on broken relationships on “Flowers”, constructing stripper anthem odes on “Lil Sant”, sticking to origins of Port Arthur keeping things “Super Trill”, and more. This gift wrapped extended play is one that shows what Port Arthur legends Bun B and Pimp C constructed in their embryonic stages and how Cohl has used that as a foundation to flourish on his own. The Texas sound has a came a long way over time, and “Cowboy Jones 1.5: Days in The East” shows the evolution of how a Texas artist can’t be marginalized into their region, but how can they use that area to speak to the rest of the world.
