Here’s this weeks’ rundown of new music from some of your favorite artists in the game.
Key Glock – Yellow Tape 2 (Deluxe)
Key Glock is a promising torchbearer of the Paper Route Empire movement. With the release of Yellow Tape 2 (Deluxe), the South Memphis rapper introduces ten more reasons why his trap-heavy sound never falters or disappoints, in a featureless fashion. This new project finds him reminiscing about time spent in the trenches, spotlighting those long nights that catalyzed his ambition for hustling. Ahead of its release, Glock dropped a string of music videos from YT2 (Deluxe) that reflect the lifestyle-feel he’s notoriously known for flexing. He has this unique ability to blend his Memphian drawl with braggadocious mentions in a way that just works, with little to no effort required on his part.
Nigo & Tyler, The Creator – Come On, Let’s Go
Tyler, The Creator stars in the self-directed music video for “Come On, Let’s Go” off of the I Know NIGO! compilation album. While on tour in support of his sixth studio album – Call Me If You Get Lost – Sir Baudelaire finds time to allocate towards directing a visual aid for Nigo, the streetwear icon responsible for creating BAPE. Tyler appears to get better with time, finding hidden pockets within instrumentals that best accentuate his style of rap. While “Come On, Let’s Go” closes things out, it pairs well with the other star-studded list of features from the album, which include A$AP Rocky, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Pharrell Williams, Pop Smoke, Lil Uzi Vert, and more.
Rob49 – Vulture Island V2 (feat. Lil Baby)
Rob49 recruits Lil Baby for new video single “Vulture Island V2.” Candidly, Rob49 has been on a tear as of late and doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. The New Orleans-bred MC is quietly becoming one of the most talked about artists in rap music, marrying hard-knock lyricism with extreme confidence on the mic. “Vulture Island V2” is what happens when you bring the whole city together for a shared experience, championed by celebrity cameos from Hotboii and Kevin Gates.
Buddy – Superghetto
Buddy releases his sophomore album Superghetto, via Cool Lil Company / RCA Records. The 10-track project arrives alongside a new video for the album track “Hoochie Mama.” With appearances from Blsxt, Tinashe, T-Pain, and Ari Lennox, Superghetto is an expansion of Buddy’s sonic metamorphosis as an artist, using his knack for storytelling to bring balance to the world his words have created.
Mellow Rackz – What I Want
Mellow Rackz isn’t afraid to be vocal about her wants and needs. With her new video single for “What I Want,” the Broward County artist is making it clear that she’s not up for negotiation when it comes to blowing a bag; spend it or get lost. The video also features a cameo from Young Money Records CEO, Lil Wayne, who’s casually seen bouncing to the beat with his double cup in hand. If this song is any indication of what to expect from Rackz going forward, it’s only a matter of time before her infectious energy supersedes regional notoriety.
