Best of the Week — Featuring New Music From Lil Durk, Paris Texas, NBA YoungBoy and More

new music week 43

It’s only Tuesday, but lo and behold, some of your favorite artists are already trending in the right direction. Just last week, Lil Durk released his uplifting anthem with J. Cole, “All My Life,” and it currently holds the top spot as the No. 1 trending song on YouTube. Elsewhere, Eem Triplin gives a behind-the-scenes look at his time on tour with LUCKI in the video for “WALKED IN.” And on the heels of his new mixtape RICHE$T OPP, YoungBoy Never Broke Again believes that bullying is the highest form of self-expression on “B*tch Let’s Do It.”

But there’s more to unpack here.

One of today’s most underrated hitmakers, K Camp returns with lifestyle and lyrics to match in his new video for “Even Steven.” The visual encompasses that effortless cool that has made Camp a cultural mainstay, reminding folks that nothing beats consistency. In other rap vet news, Soulja Boy makes his honcho status clear over a nimble trap beat with “Put Myself In The Game.” He even managed to find time to share his thoughts on his contemporaries the best way Draco knows how — by using Twitter.

From Paris Texas proving that bullets do in fact have inscriptions (and a mind of their own for that matter) on “BULLET MAN,” to the brighter side of DD Osama‘s angst-ridden style of rap in singles like “Be Alright,” there’s something to be said about the energy behind this week’s roundup. A lot of the new releases have showcased artists being in control of their creative output. And in return, they’re switching up flows, picking the right pocket, and creating without borders.

With so much new music in rotation, new announcements being made, and the everyday struggle of trying to keep up with all of this in real-time, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the newness. But rest assured, DGB has you covered.

Instead of focusing on every new song or video that released recently, we’ve curated a list of the hottest drops to keep on your radar. More new music will have probably released by the time this list goes live. But that just means we have more ground to cover heading into the weekend. So, if your song didn’t make the cut this time around, there’s a chance we’ll see you next week. Stay tuned.

Lil Durk — “All My Life” feat. J. Cole

Ahead of his new album, Almost Healed, releasing this month (May 26), Lil Durk is turning the dial on his evolution as a man and artist. His latest single features J. Cole and promotes a positive message about the importance of perseverance. Not to mention, the Chicago rapper just announced his Sorry For The Drought Tour with special guest Kodak Black, NLE Choppa, and DD Osama in select cities.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again — “B*tch Let’s Do It”

YB’s music is grim as it is gleeful. As the first visual off of his new mixtape, “B*tch Let’s Do It” sounds like a war message on wax. And from the looks of it, the Louisiana rapper has no filter and continues to speak his mind at will.

KAYTRAMINÉ, Aminé & KAYTRANADA — “Rebuke”

Aminé and KAYTRANADA unveil their second single as KAYTRAMINÉ. Ahead of their joint project of the same name, arriving next week (May 26), the producer-rapper collective drop off a smooth precursor that’s short, but just as effective.

Eem Triplin — “WALKED IN”

Eem continues to move the needle. With a VHS-inspired visual, the 22-year-old rapper shows how his mastery of meme culture and all things internet is creating a fervent fanbase.

K Camp — “Even Steven”

K Camp got his swagger back. He never lost it in the first place, but this new single has (all) the makings of a timeless track. It shows the success of his headlining Pretty Ones Tour; he’s surrounded by day one friends; and he’s still making relatable music.

Soulja Boy — “Put Myself In The Game”

Soulja Season is here. The iconic rapper is back and feeling himself like never before, reminding his peers that he was an influencer before influencing became a thing.

Paris Texas — “BULLET MAN”

Paris Texas returns with a thought-provoking music video that addresses race relations. There’s no telling what they’ll do next, but in the meantime, the Los Angeles duo is gearing up for the release of their debut album.

DD Osama — “Be Alright”

DD Osama leads with love in his latest release. The 16-year-old drill superstar’s debut project (Here 2 Stay) arrives alongside an emphatic new visual that’s a change of pace from what we’re accustomed to hearing from him.

Chavo — “System”

In the wake of his Chavo’s World 3 release, the SossHouse rapper (Chavo) stars in his own infomercial as he chefs it up in the kitchen. And of course, he attacks the beat with his signature style of caption-worthy flexes.

Slimeroni — “Pocket Rocket”

Slimeroni addresses her haters and anyone else throwing shade in her latest video. As a promising prospect, the slick-talking MC raps lifestyle over a beat that resembles the ice cream truck song.
