Stream: Rob49 & G Herbo “Add It Up”

Rising New Orleans rapper Rob49 links with Chicago’s G. Herbo on his braggadocious new single “Add It Up, out today via Rebel Music/Geffen Records. Operating in full-flex mode, the two tear up the Southside & Smatt-produced beat with their chest-puffing lyrics and growling delivery. “Add It Up” is available now at all digital retailers.

This is the kind of track you put on when you need an instant ego boost. From its first bar—“Walk out, start the track up”—Rob49 and G. Herbo are in total command, relaying their long list of wins over bone-rattling trap production. They rap about everything from money and cars to women and social status, while still contending with the dangers of the streets. As Rob49 succinctly reminds to his opps: “I’m one savage motherf*cker.”

“Add It Up” arrives on the heels of Rob49’s previous single “Product of the Trenches,” released earlier this month. He also recently dropped the fiery single “Houston Girls,” collaborated with Real Boston Richey and Kevin Gates, and toured with Jacksonville native Nardo Wick. But even as he expands his reach, he continues to show love for his city by performing at the halftime show of the New Orleans Pelicans home opener on October 23 and featuring in a promotional video for the New Orleans Saints.

Born in New Orleans, Rob49 grew up between projects in the city’s 4th and 9th Wards—hence the “4” and “9” in his rap name—and embodies its ferocious spirit, packing his songs with intensity and grit. He records and releases music at a similarly impressive pace, with April’s Welcome to Vulture Island becoming his fourth full-length project in under 24 months.

In just a short time, he has been embraced by some of hip-hop’s heavy hitters: Welcome to Vulture Island features collaborations with Icewear Vezzo, Babyface Ray, Doe Boy, Landstrip Chip, and Lil Baby—to say nothing of the project being introduced by legendary Cash Money Records founder Birdman. With all these co-signs and blistering heat like “Add It Up” up his sleeve, Rob49 is determined to make his own lane in Louisiana rap.
