Video: Fijimacintosh “Red Pill, Blue Pill / Glock Box Pt. 2”

17 yo Canton, Ohio native Fijimacintosh is always reliable when you need a carefree bop. For his latest, “Red Pill, Blue Pill / Glock Box Pt. 2,” he and frequent collaborator Noirillusions took a trip to Manhattan’s Chinatown. Fiji rocks a multi-colored North Face puffer that matches the fruit stand he’s dancing in front of as the pair roam the nighttime alleys of lower NYC.

Fijimacintosh is from the same block as Marilyn Manson, cousin to Trippie Redd, and cites Neil Young as a creative inspiration because he makes “chillax, but still fire,” melodies. That’s all to give context to the special brand of grungy, melodic trap that can be found on Fiji’s latest project, Teenage Disillusionment. A taut, seven-piece collection of anthems features appearances from IDK, A1Billionaire, Deko, Kid Trunks, and noirillusions, who assists Fiji on “Red Pill, Blue Pill/Glockbox Pt. 2,” the long-awaited follow-up to “Glock Box.” SPIN wrote about the latter, “In a year where many young rap stars cultivated bad vibes forever, ‘Glock Box’ radiated an antidotal optimism.” Teenage Disillusionment is out via EMPIRE.
