Video: Jorja Smith – “Goodbyes”

On the heels of an incredible 17-date collaborative tour with Kali Uchis, Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Jorja Smith shares her new video for the hauntingly beautiful single “Goodbyes”.

Taken from her critically acclaimed, Mercury Music Prize-nominated album Lost & Found the evocative track sees Jorja discussing the process of mourning and regret after death. The sensitively filmed visual was produced by long-term collaborator, Rashid Babiker (“On Your Own” and “Teenage Fantasy”) and was shot at Jorja’s home. Complete with fire lanterns and a perspective of looking through the lens, the simple emotion evoked through the lyrics takes center stage among the deep and transparent visuals. It inspires an intense feeling of emotion and is stripped of any theatrics.

Speaking on the song and video Jorja shares “‘Goodbyes’ is a song for anyone who has not been able to say their last words; to say goodbye to someone.  Rashid and I filmed the video at home. I just sang as I wanted to create a homely feel. Then me and my friends set off fire lanterns for the people we miss.”

Jorja has had major success following her debut album release in 2016 and continues to add to her growing list of accolades which include locking down a Grammy nomination in 2018, winning a BRIT Award (Critics Choice), being named Dior Beauty’s latest ambassador, gracing the cover of Elle Magazine and many more proving that Jorja is well on her way to becoming a household name.
