Video: Lil Rekk’s “Kiddin Me”

Armed with quotable lyrics and a brazen delivery, Lil Rekk’s artistry made him a natural fit for NYC’s Highbridge The Label (A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Don Q). Though the road to fame comes with criticism and comparisons, Lil Rekk is unbothered by his haters. Instead, he finds amusement in their shady commentary and idle threats in “Kiddin Me,” a new video from his recently released 1ONE project. Over a bass-heavy production and chopped and screwed ad-libs, Rekk proclaims his self-assured stature as a respected artist in his city. The no-frills video finds Rekk temporarily taking over as the cashier at a local convenience store and occasionally occupying an empty New York street by his lonesome, showing he doesn’t roll with many and doesn’t need to walk around with protection (“I don’t gotta say s***/They know who, it’s me/I’m the main ooter/I don’t need n****s to oot for me”).

“Kiddin Me” follows recent videos for 1ONE standout tracks “PTSD” and “Confetti,” a 4 Shooters Only live performance. Similar to heaters like “Ooters” (1.5M+ YT views) and “Gettin Money,” “Kiddin Me” emphasizes Lil Rekk’s underdog status as he challenges the critics who count him out. Between his consistent output and recently revealed slot on The Smokers Club Festival’s 2022 lineup, Lil Rekk is ready to prove why he’s one of a kind.
