My latest obsession is artists rapping over beats that may seem far out of their lane (i.e. drill rappers rapping over Jersey club instrumentals), and Trapland Pat is one of the artists that never ceases to amaze me with his instrumental choices. After his Pitchfork-acclaimed Trapnificent project and Rick Ross-assisted “Big Business (Remix),” the South Florida flexer is back and bringing neo-soul “Vibes” on his new single. Featuring a stirring horn section and funky bassline, “Vibes” is truly a Def Jam spoken word sesh for the finessers as the Bang Biz/Alamo Records signee boasts about his unmatched hustle: “Pimpin’ ain’t easy, sipping out the styrofoam like Lil Weezy.” The video is just as chill – with baddies, bottles, and poolside fun, how could you not be relaxed? This song is super chill – I’m gonna sit back, relax, and enjoy my libations as Pat takes me on a jazzy journey!
