On hip-hop’s 50th birthday (Aug 11), Defiant Records was born and Jiggy In Jersey officially arrived. The latter spans 27 tracks and includes an all-star cast of guest features from Sexyy Red, A$AP Ferg, Trippie Redd, Maiya The Don, and Lil Zay Osama. The imprint, led by record executive Steve Carless, is a joint venture launched in partnership with Warner Records. Jiggy In Jersey, masterminded by Jersey’s own Bandmanrill & MCVERTT, and Bronx bruiser Sha EK, is the label’s first release. This project combines drill with Jersey Club inspired beats, resulting in a futuristic soundscape that’s both menacing and dance-ready.
