We recently caught up with one of our day one rap friends, Mata on the east side of Atlanta on Candler Road at OnDemand Barbershop for a chat. The Detroit-born, Alabama-bred rapper talks about his beginnings in rap, being around Gucci Mane and Big Cat Records, his long-close relationship with Zaytoven, working with Lil STL, before opening up about his teenage son who was tragically murdered in Atlanta earlier this year and recalling an incredible story of how someone came into his house to kill him, putting a gun to his head, pulling the trigger and the gun jamming. He then goes on to talk about beating a trafficking charge a couple years back, plus his future plans with music and much, much more. Watch the interview below and stay tuned for more music & videos from Mata. Video produced by JTeef.
