Mozzy has announced his forthcoming album, Children of the Slums, set to release on April 19. The anticipated release is his first full-length project since 2022’s acclaimed effort, Survivor’s Guilt.
Children of the Slums pays homage to the Sacramento streets that raised him, but more importantly, it serves as a tribute to the kids and loved ones that couldn’t make it out. “Nobody born in the slums has a choice,” Mozzy says about the record. “Born into those kinds of circumstances, it’s hard to imagine a way to get out. They don’t have anyone to look out for them or to show them a better way. I’m still looking out for all the children of the slums. I am there for them because I know if the situation was flipped, they would do the same for me.”
Along with the announcement of the album, Mozzy reveals a new heartfelt single titled “Jaded” featuring fellow California native and crooner Eric Bellinger. Adorned with plaintive piano and distorted vocal samples, “Jaded” is a heartbreaking anthem about the difficulty of overcoming personal demons while shouldering the burdens of a community.
