Tampa rapper Yung Dred had an incredible run in 2017. His “Blue Strips” single went viral across social media & YouTube, he went on the road several times with Rich The Kid & Jay Critch and he closed out the year with another crazy single “Selavi” that is really starting to take off online. And as the calendar turns to 2018, one of Dred’s ongoing personal goals is to shine some light on the talent in Tampa & St. Petersburg that has long been overlooked by music execs in New York, LA & Atlanta. I was back down in Tampa during the holidays and stopped by a video shoot in West Tampa with Dred and some younger rappers in the city and it was great to see the neighborhood embrace him like the start that he is. There’s definitely a different feeling in the city this time around and his upcoming My Brother & Me 2 album with Richie Wess is highly anticipated. And yesterday to kick off the new year, Dred released this new video “Pipe Down” with another talented Bay area artist, Prince Milly from St. Pete. Watch them run it up below.
