Stream: Pouya “Never Enough” ft. Lu Baby

South Florida mainstay Pouya has announced a new mixtape, dirt/hurt/pain/. The new project combines Pouya’s dark and brooding lyrics mixed with upbeat melodies and booming 808’s, courtesy of Mikey The Magician, Rocci, and more, as well as appearances from BAKER YA MAKER and MAIKA. The tape drops next Friday, 2/11, and continues the trend of Pouya experimenting with sounds outside of the usual gritty Soundcloud rap that has made him one of the most prominent independent artists in the scene.

Today he dropped off the first single from the tape featuring frequent collaborator and friend, Lu baby. Their new new collab, “Never Enough” finds the duo linking up over a choir-led beat, courtesy of Mikey the Magician. Pouya takes the lead with his trademark articulate flow, spitting about battling with mental health, while still feeling the need to maintain a level of perfection for the industry, as well as his pockets. Florida native, Lu baby takes the time to slow it down on the second half of the track with a layered, soulful performance. The pair recently linked up on “Walk In,” the lead single off Pouya’s latest full-length album Blood Was Never Thick As Water which dropped back in October of 2021 and featured additional heaters like “Wig Split” ft. Denzel Curry and “One Deep In the Fleetwood.”
